Pepper Corns (Kali Mirchi)

Pepper is a highly prized spice since medieval times and it is still considered as the king of spices. I like to add it in my dishes to add that extra peppery flavour either whole, crushed and in a powdered form. In India pepper is grown in Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan Coast and Tamil Nadu where the climate is tropical, hot and humid. Pepper is also grown in many home gardens in South India for their own consumption. My mother had her own pepper vine and the harvest was enough to last one year bearing in mind that she shared it with her siblings and friends too. Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil and China are also some of the other leading producers of black pepper.
