For those in love or looking for love, I hope the Cupid’s arrow will hit you well and truly between the eyes today, being Valentine’s Day!

After two years of Covid lockdown misery, the florists are certainly feeling the love and it was great to see some bright and colourful displays of floral and other goodies in the local florist shops.

Giving flowers on Valentine’s Day is a tradition since the Victorian times and today I am going to tell you something that others may not have told before. Roses are the most loved flower to gift that someone special on Valentine’s Day however, just like the roses, each flower along with its colour, has a different meaning. Today, I will walk you through some commonly chosen Valentine’s Day flowers and their meaning, so you know which flowers to choose for your Valentine and what exactly those petals depict what you want to say.

Red roses signify love – top pick for lovers

Pink roses represent romance, beautiful fresh love and pureness of emotion – Great colour for your first love

Orange roses signify energy and vibrancy – perfect to gift someone who sparks up your life

Yellow roses depict long lasting friendships – wonderful for that friend who is always there for you, like your bestie

White roses are for peace – special gift to give someone who has drifted away from you due to some reason

Burgandy roses – great to gift someone who is beautiful in an unusual and unconventional way

Yellow carnations – best to avoid this colour in a single all- yellow-carnation bunch as they express rejection. A few yellow carnations in a mixed bunch express positivity, happiness and joy
